2018 Henry's Chenin Blanc
From the screenprinted label:
“The serpentine drive around the ruffled skirt of Howell Mountain towards Henry Vineyard feels like time travel. You literally pass from the gilded floor of Napa Valley up through the dry town of Angwin and down past a rustic garage that marks the frontier crossroads of Pope Valley. So much seems lost and nostalgic here that it's no surprise to walk in the gnarly tree trunk vines of the oldest remaining Chenin in Napa. Planted, by best account in 1947, Henry's knotted and tangled vines produce deeply concentrated and luscious fruit. The yields are so small that it would be ripped and replanted to the whims of the wine market anywhere else. Maybe the ghosts of Aetna Springs, the stagecoach stop, and the abandoned quicksilver mines of this spectral valley have whispered to keep it alive.”
