2017 Stagecoach Cabernet Franc
It was the first year we experienced a wildfire up close. It's the year we decided on building a tasting room. It's the year we broke up. It's the year that shaped the years before the pandemic would twist it all up some more. It was the first year of really growing up. We wear our joy on the outside- our love of wine, of friends and family, of a good time- but 2017 was the year we started lacing our skeletons with adamantium.
This wine is overloaded with everything- all life's everything: pain, tears, heartbreak, resilence, ambition, immense struggle, conflict, bittersweet accomplishment, and finally, by the time we put it in a bottle, wisdom, perserverance, and hope. There are the constructs of ceremonial magic within the idea of a vintage- Formal layers of the wines years- first of being picked and fermented, then elevagé, then split into bottles, hibernated, and finally brought back to life. This wine's a castle if it's a building, an aircraft carrier if it's a ship. This wine has every pedigree of it's place and construction plus seven tumultous years that culminate in a spell of happiness and promise.
Serve it with pheasant, and wear something formal and reverent
