2023 Feral Rosé of Cabernet Franc
The important wine part is that this is a direct press Rosé.
The important story part is that we started rescuing feral vineyard kittens way back when Gabe was the King Koopa at Stagecoach. In fact the cats on the bottle are all real buddies we know. If you would've known us back in those kitty salad days, odds are you would have a sibling from that crew back at your house shredding your favorite office chair right now. We had two kinds of friends back then, those that were sick of us asking them to take a kitten, and those that already capitulated.
Back to the wine part: We farm a vineyard specifically for Rosé. This is important because we harvest when the chemistry (the sugars and acid) is perfect for Rosé, whereas 95% of American Rosé is bleed wine from a red wine program. Those grapes are harvested to make a red wine (with appropiate chemistry for that red wine) and then the winemaker removes some of the juice in order to concentrate the remaining juice to skin ratio of their red wine... I feel like i'm losing you- Am I losing you? I'm even confusing myself at this point. The gist of it is that most Rosé in America is shitty and full of added water and acid, and ours is not. Our is loaded with pretty florals and light red fruit that smacks of summertime, but also it's loaded with integrity. Not a common tasting note integrity, but you know it when you taste it.
It's delicious. It's Rosé and it's summetime. You should buy some before it's gone.
