2024 Hawthorn Chenin Blanc

A crisp elegant Chenin Blanc that's gonna rock lighter fare like oysters all the way up to bright fatty patés and angel hair pasta primavera (that's as wide a noodle as I'm comfortable recommending). Hawthorn trees are literary markers of magical thresholds. They identify liminal spaces between the human realm and mystical worlds. They mark the entrance to Avalon, where olde King Arthur lies resting. In Ireland they're called fairy trees, they belong to the Na Daoine Eile (the fairies!) and farmers leave'em be so they don't have an "accident" while they're planting potatoes. They're also a safe-haven for very small birds and mice because bigger predators can't squeeze through their thicket of thorns (say that 500 times fast). Its berries last into fall and winter when other food sources are scarce.
